Disable Windows XP

NETBIOS over TCPIP

NOTE: 29 March 2007 At this point I can not remember why I did this page but it is here for reference.

At this point I assume that WinXP is configured with the NetBEUI protocol. Open "Network Connections" and select the network connection to configure which will open the status window (figure 1). Select Properties which will open the properties window (figure 2).

Next, highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and select the Properties button to open the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" window (figure 3). Then click the Advanced button to open the last window (figure 4).

Last, select the WINS tab and under "NetBIOS setting" select "Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP". Select OK to finish up. A clean install of WinXP has "Default" selected, but the NetBEUI protocol is not configured.
